Welcome

Expand your appreciation of Nevada’s dark skies with like-minded people who love to share their telescopes, their wonder, and their knowledge of astronomy. Founded in 1934, the ASN is one of the longest-running amateur astronomy organizations in the western United States.

Members enjoy access to monthly meetings at the Fleischmann Planetarium, public and member-only star parties, our newsletter The Asteroid, the ASN Discussion Group, and the warm camaraderie of fellow stargazers from across the Truckee Meadows and beyond.

What We Do

  • Public star parties at Sparks Marina and other regional dark-sky locations, weather permitting
  • Monthly meetings with guest speakers, member presentations, and observing reports
  • Educational outreach for schools, scout groups, and community organizations
  • Member-only observing sessions at darker sites away from city light
  • The Asteroid, our member newsletter, plus an active member discussion forum

Join Us Under the Stars

Annual dues are just $30 — a small price for a community that has been looking up together for nearly a century. Whether you own a 16″ Dob or have never touched a telescope, you’re welcome here.
